Prescriptions
Presciptions...an overviewPatients on regular medication will require repeat prescriptions. We will be pleased to receive your request by fax, email or in writing, or by calling to the Surgery in person.
We do not deal with requests by telephone for safety reasons.
- Allow two working days for repeat prescriptions to be processed (week-ends do not count as working days).
- Only ask for what you need.
- Clearly indicate where you would like your prescription to go for dispensing.
- Reviews for repeat medication may sometimes be possible over the telephone. Please ask the reception to enquire with the Doctor on your behalf.
- The back door (situated in the corner of the car park) has a letterbox for your use to post prescriptions in to us out of hours.

Prescription Charges
People in the following categories are automatically exempt from prescription charges:
- Children under 16; under 19 who are in full-time education.
- People over 60 years of age.
- Pregnant women and women who have had a baby in the last 12 months.
- People getting Benefits Agency payments and people with specific medical conditions listed in leaflet FP92A.
Season Tickets
It is sometimes worthwhile to buy a season ticket for pre-payment of prescription charges. A prescription charge (at time of print) is £6.20 per item.
Season tickets are currently £32.40 for four months and £89.00 for one year.
This means that when using a season ticket, once 15 items have been dispensed, the ticket has paid for itself. £89.00 may sound a lot, but works out at less than £1.71 per week for all your prescriptions!
Compared to the actual cost of medication this represents excellent value.
