Patient Confidentiality
Data ProtectionIn this practice data is held under the Data Protection Act, 1988. Information about you medical history is accessed by GP's, Practice Nurses, Reception staff and Data Input staff. All staff sign a Confidentiality Agreement which means they cannot disclose any information about you. We will only release relevant medial details about you to another healthcare professional when you have been referred for further medical treatment outside of the Practice. We do, occasionally, release anonymous statistics to research bodies (only if they have ethics committee approval).
CaldicottThe Caldicott Report, 1997, aims to improve the way the NHS handles information about you. Information may only be passed to a third party with patient consent, except for NHS purposes including: the provision of care, getting test results, organising transport or in a situation where information is demanded by law or in the public interest.
Freedom of Information
You may ask for information about the Practice under the Freedom of Information Act ,2000.
